Heart Throb Hydrangea is a dwarf deciduous shrub with and upright rounded habit that blooms on both new and old wood.  Its serrated deep green leaves have no fall color.  The color of the large rounded panicles of mophead flowers depends on the soil PH - a rich cherry red in alkaline soils, while acidic soils produce wine purple flowers and bloom throughout summer and into fall.  The flowers open green to white and gain its color through summer and darkens as they fade.  The flowers attract pollinators.  Best bloom in partial sun and rich, moist well-drained soils.
