Size

Dianthus is a compact mat-forming perennial with narrow foliage and sturdy upright flowering stems topped with typically 5-petaled flowers with frilled or zigzagged edges.  The flowers have a spicy fragrance and come in various solid or two-toned colors and and bloom first in spring and can continue to intermediately bloom through fall if deadheaded.  Blooms best in full sun and slightly alkaline, moist, and well-drained soil.
