Chives are a small bulbus culinary herb that has thin, tubular grass-like foliage with a mild taste of onion and edible flowers.  Fragrant lavender global clusters resembling clovers bloom from late spring into summer.  Grows best with light afternoon shade in the South and dry to medium well-drained soils.  When crushed the foliage smells like onion.
